Livia Etelka (FR / U.S.A.)
Livia began her dancing exploration at the age of four. Following a classical training in ballet for 16 years, she developed a strong foundation that enabled her to delve into different genres, ranging from contemporary dance, jazz, modern, african, to tribal fusion, exploring the body as an intricate, emotive instrument to convey and communicate. Livia’s dance path organically evolved into the air, as she joined in 2009 La Petite Chouette Aerial Dance company, part of the Santa Barbara Centre for Aerial Arts. Concentrating on the transitions from floor to air and translating elements of contemporary dance into the air, Livia Etelka has focused on a multitude of apparatus including aerial silks, rope, static trapeze, aerial hoop, hammock, stilt walking, and tight rope. Her experience has brought her to perform at festivals and events around the world, including California, France, England, and India. As an aerial and yoga teacher, Livia inspires connecting with and exploring the body, understanding its mechanics and how to most efficiently and respectfully work with body and breath. She encourages students to define and perfect the quality and awareness of each movement, bringing a sense of intention, precision and emotionality to their art. |
